Heathcote GCSE results

It was a real pleasure to visit Heathcote School this morning and join pupils and staff in celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results.

There was a great deal to celebrate. Nearly 70% of pupils achieved grade 4 or above in Mathematics, with 70% doing so in English. Across the year group, pupils achieved more than 219 grades at grade 7 or above, including an impressive 128 grades at 8 and 9.

These are tremendous results and a testament to the hard work, resilience and determination of the pupils. They also reflect the enormous commitment of Heathcote’s teachers and staff, who have encouraged, supported and challenged these young people throughout their time at the school. Their contribution deserves real recognition today too.

Parents and families also play such an important part in supporting young people through their GCSE years, particularly during the pressure of exams and results, and they should be very proud of what has been achieved.

I was particularly pleased to hear that two pupils have successfully secured apprenticeships. Results day is about looking forward as much as celebrating what has already been achieved, and there are many different routes to a successful and rewarding future.

It was wonderful to see the excitement at Heathcote today and to have the opportunity to congratulate pupils and teachers personally.

Well done to the whole Heathcote School community, and congratulations to all the young people across Chingford and Woodford Green receiving their GCSE results today. I wish you every success as you take your next steps.
