Transport for London (TfL) have taken the devastating decision to change the timetable of 379-bus service between Chingford Bus Station and the Yardley Lane Estate. The reduced services will mean that buses will operate every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes between 08:00 and 18:00 on Saturdays. On weekdays, buses will operate every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes between 15:00 and 16:00.
Residents have relied on this route for more than 20 years, and I am disappointed that these changes were confirmed a day after local Conservative councillors Kelly Summers and Mitchell Goldie and I’s recent site visit with TfL and without any prior public consultation. This reduction from four buses an hour to three will particularly affect elderly residents and those with limited mobility who depend on reliable public transport.
I welcome TfL’s acknowledgement of the poor handling of the changes, without prior consultation with me, local councillors or residents in the surrounding roads. I will continue pressing TfL to ensure local residents’ concerns are properly heard and that the needs of the Yardley Lane Estate are fully considered.
