I hosted a Chingford Mount Crime Summit, with Chief Inspector Adam Richmond, Inspector Mason, PS Emma Qureshi, PCSO Shashi Tailor and LBWF Senior ASB Officer James King. Also in attendance, your Conservative councillors and local businesses from across the Mount. This summit brought together local police, businesses, Conservative councillors and community partners to address growing concerns around anti-social behaviour and shoplifting.
Building on the success of our work on Station Road against organised and targeted shoplifting where retailers have now reported a reduction in crime, we are now expanding this work to deliver the same result for Chingford Mount. Our focus is restoring tackling anti-social behaviour and shoplifting, increasing public confidence in local neighbourhood policing, supporting local businesses, and ensure that Chingford Mount can become a thriving high street once again.
As a result of the crime summit a dedicated group chat for Chingford Mount businesses has been established. This will enable direct, real-time communication between the Mount retailers and with the police. This will strengthen reporting, support intelligence-led policing, and help tackle crime more effectively.
Your Conservative councillors have also formally called for the establishment of a Chingford Mount Town Centre Policing Unit, to provide the visible and consistent neighbourhood policing presence that residents and businesses need.
By working together, we can drive down crime, support our local economy, and ensure Chingford Mount once again becomes a thriving, safe high street for residents and families.
