Today, I met with Superintendent Sarah Jackson and Inspector Mason, for a walk-and-talk meeting along Chingford Mount.
Together, we visited local businesses and high street retailers to hear directly about the issues they are facing, particularly shoplifting and the ongoing anti-social behaviour in Albert Crescent, which continues to affect Chingford Mount High Street. It is critical that residents feel safe and secure in their local community, yet this persistent behaviour is undermining both resident confidence and shopkeeper security.
As with my previous meeting on Station Road, we emphasised the importance of reporting all crimes to the police and reassured shopkeepers of the continued visible presence of local officers in the area. It is vital that residents feel safe walking our streets and that businesses feel supported in tackling crime.
I remain fully committed to working closely with the police, local businesses, and residents to address these issues and ensure our streets are safe for everyone.
