I was pleased to attend the official opening of the new multi-storey car park at Whipps Cross Hospital, now open to the public.
The car park was part of Stage 1 to the Whipps Cross Hospital rebuild, funding for which I helped to secure under the last Conservative Government. The new facility provides 500 parking spaces, including 50 accessible bays and 100 electric vehicle charging points.
The new car park also frees up the site for the construction of the long-awaited new healthcare facilities that our local community so urgently needs. It is disappointing that the New Hospital Programme introduced under the Labour Government has pushed back Stage 2 the construction which would have delivered the full and much-needed redevelopment of the hospital.
Local residents have already raised concerns about visitor capacity and disability access, and I will be following up directly to ensure these issues are addressed.
As your Member of Parliament, I remain committed to working closely with Whipps Cross Redevelopment Team to fight for a hospital fit for the future for residents across Chingford and Woodford Green.
