This week, I was privileged to visit Ukraine. The purpose was twofold: to meet with Ukrainian politicians to reaffirm the UK’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s fight for peace, security, and long-term reconstruction; and to visit Hopefull, a remarkable British charity which delivers hope to war-torn, disaster-struck and disadvantaged communities by serving up a simple meal with warmth and compassion.
Our cross-party visit was unofficial and organised by the charity and its Ukrainian helpers. As such, we were able to witness firsthand the incredibly resilience of the Ukrainian people and the difficulties and problems of living in wartime Ukraine. We helped the charity feed thousands of people in difficult circumstances. To date, Hopefull has fed 1.5 million people, up to 5,000 a day. www.hopefull.org.uk
We must not forget the people of Ukraine, who are fighting and dying for their freedom.
