I was delighted to visit Highams Park School and see the progress of the rebuild.
Under the previous Conservative Government, I successfully secured £50 million from the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme that was put exclusively towards Highams Park School.
Since the funding was announced back in 2021, I have since been working closely with the school, including CEO Richard Palmer, Headteacher Nigel Armsby, and the Department for Education (DfE) to ensure building work stays on track.
The School and I have also worked in close partnership with the local Council to push through the planning process.
I’m pleased that planning permission was officially signed off in June 2024 and building work has been under way ever since. The temporary school buildings were complete for the new school year this Autumn.
This £50 million investment will make a real difference, giving students and teachers the modern, safe, and inspiring environment they need to learn and thrive.
Highams Park School already does fantastic work supporting and educating its pupils, and this rebuild will help them continue doing just that for years to come.
