Ahead of my second Crime Summit next month with high street retailers and local police, I met Superintendent Sarah Jackson, Inspector Mason, Chingford Green’s Dedicated Ward Officer, Ricardo Gloria, and Chingford Green Councillor Mitchell Goldie for a walk-and-talk meeting.
Together, we visited local businesses and high street retailers to hear how shoplifting and anti-social behaviour is affecting our high streets. Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their local community, but anti-social behaviour continues to undermine resident and shopkeeper security.
We emphasised the importance of reporting crimes to the police and reassured shopkeepers of the ongoing visible presence of local officers in the area. It is vital that residents feel safe walking our streets and that businesses feel supported in tackling crime.
Neighbourhood policing is critical for community safety, and I remain fully committed to working with the police, businesses, and residents to tackle crime and ensure our streets are safe for all.
