This morning, Conservative Councillors John Moss and Catherine Saumarez, Chair of Stadium Place TRA, Sarah Chaney, and I attended a site visit to Walthamstow Stadium to review the progress of the remediation programme with L&Q Chief Executive Fiona Fletcher-Smith.
A year on from my previous visit and three years into L&Q's four-year remediation programme, 81 residents still remain in temporary accommodation. Throughout this programme, many residents have been forced into temporary accommodation, experienced repeated heat network outages, prolonged uncertainty about their living arrangements, and significantly limited and unclear communication from L&Q.
I am pleased that Chief Executive Fiona Fletcher-Smith finally acknowledged the issues at the site visit and 117 compensations have been agreed to date. However, it became clear during the visit that failures in L&Q’s internal systems have resulted in residents’ concerns not being reliably acknowledged or even addressed.
There remains considerable work to be done and I will continue to support and campaign for those residents affected to ensure they can return to their homes.
