Bin the Benches – Delivered
Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour has always been one of my priorities as your Member of Parliament.
The green benches on Albert Crescent, installed as part of the previous Labour Council's regeneration scheme, became a haven for anti-social behaviour, leaving residents feeling unsafe and damaging local businesses on Chingford Mount High Street.
That was unacceptable.
I listened to residents' and shopkeepers' concerns and took action.
Through my quarterly Crime Summits with local businesses and the police, and in direct representations to Waltham Forest Council's Chief Executive, Linzi Roberts-Egan, your Conservative councillors and I pushed for the benches to be removed.
Together, after months of campaigning and pressure on the Council, they have finally agreed, and the benches will be removed this July. This was a vital step forward in addressing the rising concerns of crime in Chingford Mount.
But there is more to do.
I will continue working with the police and your local Conservative councillors to tackle anti-social behaviour and restore confidence back in Chingford Mount High Street.
You raised the issue. We pushed for action. Together, we delivered results.
