I was honoured to attend Chingford Armed Forces Day and to march in the parade alongside fellow servicemen.
Remembrance Day is when we honour those who gave their lives in conflict, but Chingford Armed Forces Day is about celebrating and thanking the men and women who continue to serve.
Despite the hot weather, especially for the Scots Guards, who bravely endured their bearskin hats and full uniform, it was wonderful to see so many residents from across Chingford come together to show their support for our Armed Forces community.
Families, residents and armed forces were brought together to enjoy activities on the green and music from the Epping Forest Pipe Band; it was a testament to the brilliant character and community in Chingford.
I would like to thank Councillors Kelly Summers, Mitchell Goldie and Roy Berg for organising such a successful event, and to all who took part and made the day even more special: the veterans, cadet forces, the Epping Forest Pipe Band, the Chelsea Pensioners, and the Metropolitan Police.
