Ray Park Play Area in Woodford Green has been neglected for far too long.
Parents first raised serious concerns with me in October 2025 about deteriorating and unsafe play equipment, with several structures becoming unstable. Given that neighbouring Ray Lodge Primary School relies on the park for its outdoor play facilities, it was vital these concerns were addressed.
That is why your newly elected Bridge ward councillors and I pushed for Redbridge Council to carry out a full site inspection and take urgent action to make the play area safe.
I am pleased that Redbridge Council has now committed investment through its Capital Programme to improve Ray Park Play Area. The investment will fund a new basketball court, refurbishment of the outdoor gym, accessible swings and new play equipment, including a seesaw, with works being delivered in phases throughout the year.
Woodford Green has not received our fair share of funding we deserve, and Ray Park Play Area should never have been allowed to fall into such poor condition.
As these improvements are delivered, I want to hear your views on what more can be done.
