Last week, I visited St Antony’s Catholic Primary School in Woodford during the morning drop-off alongside Headteacher Mrs Pampellonne following concerns raised about road safety on Mornington Road.
Having seen the situation first-hand, I am concerned by the level of traffic congestion, unsafe parking and the risks this creates for pupils, parents and staff. While the school has worked hard to encourage sustainable travel, the challenges facing families at busy drop-off times remain clear.
Following my visit, I have written to the Council requesting that officers attend a site visit with the Headteacher and me during the morning drop-off so they can see the issues for themselves and work with the school on practical solutions to improve safety.
The safety of children and families must come first, and I will continue working with the school and local authorities to press for action.
