As your Member of Parliament, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour remains one of my top priorities.
Speaking with residents and local businesses, it is clear that concerns have grown in recent years, particularly around shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, which are having a detrimental impact on our high streets.
To tackle this, I established the Station Road Crime Summits—quarterly meetings bringing together the Metropolitan Police and local retailers to coordinate action against shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. Retailers have since reported a reduction in shoplifting.
Building on this success, the initiative has expanded to Chingford Mount and will continue to roll out across Chingford and Woodford Green with smaller local businesses also included.
Every resident deserves to feel safe on their local high street, and every business deserves to have confidence that effective neighbourhood policing is in place to protect their business, staff and customers.
But there is more to do.
