The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the Chingford Police Station front desk will close on Saturday 28 February.
I am deeply disappointed by the decision to proceed with the closure of the station’s front desk, particularly as Chingford is one of only five stations across London closing that did not previously operate with reduced hours. I am further concerned this decision risks undermining public confidence in local policing.
However, I remain committed to working with the local Police to ensure that neighbourhood policing in Chingford continues to be accessible, visible and responsive to the needs of residents.
Ahead of the front desk closure, for alternative ways to contact the Metropolitan Police, see below:
• Emergency response available 24 hours a day via 999
• Non-emergency reporting via 101 and online services
• Weatherproof telephones outside former front counters providing direct access to 999 and 101
• Pre-arranged in-person and video appointments with officers for victims of crime
• Continued local engagement by neighbourhood policing teams through ward bases, street briefings and community events
• Language line services available through 999 and 101
